For your information: the Foreign Office were wired today as follows:-the recommmendation of Governor Hongkong has been communicated by me to President's private secretary

who expressed gratitude for kind advice which he would

communicate to Yuan. Would Mr.Wei Yuk make a suitable

Tu Tu in the opinion of your Government.

In reply to your telegram of 14th.instant, Wei Yuk is

entirely unfitted as he has no financial or administrative

ability. Mr. Jamieson, with whom I discussed the matter,

is of opinion that the late Viceroy, Chang Hing Chi would

be acceptable to Cantonese and would be a good appointment.

I agree with the Consul-General.
